Those who know know; I am a hotel interior architect. I worked as an implementing technical personnel in many 5-star hotel constructions in Batumi for years. The most important issue in the projects we work on is fire precautions; - "Class A" 60-minute flame-retardant doors are mandatory (120 minutes in some expensive hotels) at the entrances of the rooms. These doors are also smoke-proof. Their wicks are made of non-flammable or non-meltable material. They are heavy like a safe door. - There are both "flame and smoke" warning alarms and fire hydrants inside the rooms. The glass at the end of these sprinkler systems bursts at a temperature of 68 degrees and squirts water over a 12 m² area, without waiting for any human intervention. If the room is large, two or three are installed. This water comes directly from the tank, it has nothing to do with the network. The holes opened for the installation are blinded with non-flammable red silicone so that flames do not pass from room to room through the pipes. - Halogen-free (non-flammable cable) is used in the electrical installation. Even the cable channels are non-flammable and non-smoking. - There are EXIT signs on the ceilings of all corridors. These are not electric, they are rechargeable. They do their job until they are struck by flame and melt. There are also emergency lighting on the floors in the corridors. In the event of a fire, smoke first rises to the ceiling and then sinks to the floor. That is why evacuations are always done by crawling from the floor. Even the corridor carpets are non-flammable. In fact, when cigarette ash falls, the ash extinguishes itself. - Fire escape stairs are reached by passing through "two" fireproof doors for 120 minutes. These doors are also smokeproof. The ventilation of fire escape stairs is special. Fresh air is constantly supplied to this special section from outside with very large fans. Smoke is also sucked and blown out. The walls of these fire escape stairs are made of double-layered non-flammable "pink or burgundy" plasterboard. - No objects are ever kept in fire escape stairs. There are no locks on the doors! - Kitchens are equipped with foam fire extinguishing systems. Foam is preferred to be suffocating enough to extinguish even ignited oil. - Hundreds of fire extinguishers are kept in all buildings. LPG vehicles are not allowed in indoor parking lots. The surroundings of hotels are also equipped with fire hydrants, which provide water to fire departments. These rules are implemented with regulations all over the world. Before obtaining a license, these buildings are inspected by fire teams. Even the slightest mistake does not allow permission to open the building. The purpose of all these precautions is to prevent mass deaths. That is why the prices of accommodation in 5 star hotels are high. This money is not determined by the decoration.
